In 1990 as a war between Christian factions tears Lebanon apart, Nour a Montreal doctoral student of Lebanese descent still shaken by her father’s suicide, is recruited by Simone a Québécoise mediator entrusted by the Canadian government with securing a ceasefire between the rival camps.
Brought together for three days on the Turkish island of Büyükada at the Splendid Palace, a hotel opened out of season for the occasion, the negotiators strive to wrest a fragile truce. But behind the political maneuvering, a more intimate story is unfolding. As the silences deepen and Nour’s certainties begin to falter, she draws ever closer to a buried truth that will forever change the way she sees her father.
In this enclosed world, suspended between war and hope, lives cross paths, waver and are changed forever.
